The QCD describes the Pomeron effect as an interaction in which protons exchange an even number of gluons. In contrast, Odderon is an interaction which leads to an exchange of an odd number of gluons. A glimmer of hope. Though QCD predicts the existence of both these effects, scientists have only found experimental evidence for the Pomeron effect.

2021-03-19 · The Odderon particle is what briefly forms when protons collide in high-energy collisions, Protons are made up of quarks and gluons, that briefly form Odderon and Pomeron particles. High energy pp andpbar p data on elastic scattering and total cross sections are analyzed in a model including the pomeron, odderon and secondary reggeons. A dipole model is used for the pomeron and for the odderon. By construction, our (bare) pomeron ansatz produces a single dip, as observed experimentally. The model reproduces the logarithmically rising cross sections with a unit pomeron Pomeron and odderon exchange can thus explain the energy independence of the asymmetry and predicts that the asymmetry should persist in events with large rapidity gaps.
